Possible but dont forget HTC and Oculus arent the only players in this game. There are so many other HMDs in development.
Even if its an interim solution I would be willing to buy a VR HMD as long as it at least offers 1.5k vertical resolution, proper positional tracking and a FOV of 90°+. I couldnt care less about controllers and such.
